Heart failure on peritoneal dialysis: Where do we stand?

Cardiovascular disease continues to be the most frequent cause of death in peritoneal dialysis patients and an important obstacle for improvement technique survival. Heart failure diagnosis management is particularly challenging among patients, this condi‑ tion remains underdiagnosed undertreated population. The common phenotype heart with preserved ejection fraction, diastolic disfunction left ventricular hypertrophy. Unfortunately, unlike what happens reduced there lack evidence support a specific drug regimen treat fraction. Several conditions associated end stage kidney disease, such as anemia, hyperphosphatemia, secondary hyperparathyroidism, inflammation, insulin resistance seem involved pathogenesis fraction reason, term uremic cardiomyopathy has been proposed. There regarding optimal treatment more studies are needed assess efficacy safety new drugs available treatment. This review explores spectrum on dialysis, its pathogenesis, risk factors possible therapeutic preventive measures.
